Following Crystal Palace’s humiliating 5-0 defeat against Arsenal, manager Roy Hodgson is set to remain in his role for the upcoming match against Sheffield United, but his future hangs in the balance. After talks with chairman Steve Parish, Hodgson has received a warning that his position will be under scrutiny, and he could face dismissal if results do not improve.

The 76-year-old manager faced discussions with Parish, during which constructive criticism was offered to address the team’s recent struggles. Despite serious consideration of parting ways with Hodgson, Parish decided against an immediate change, giving the manager an opportunity to reverse the team’s fortunes in the next game against Sheffield United.

Hodgson has been made fully aware that a failure to spark a revival against the bottom-placed Sheffield United could lead to his dismissal. Currently sitting in 15th place, only five points clear of the relegation zone, Crystal Palace faces crucial upcoming games against rivals Brighton and Chelsea.

The outcome of the Sheffield United match, along with the subsequent fixtures, is likely to determine Hodgson’s fate until the end of the season. If a change is made, Julen Lopetegui and Steve Cooper are reported favorites to replace Hodgson, with Graham Potter also considered. Palace has reportedly explored potential fund-raising options, including talks with football club sale specialists Raine, to support the redevelopment of Selhurst Park.

Additionally, Palace’s bid for Colombia right-back Daniel Muñoz from Belgian club Genk has been rejected, but the club is expected to return with a new offer for the 27-year-old valued at €10m (£8.6m).
