Luke Bradley-Jones, a key figure in Disney’s streaming success across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), is making a significant career move to The Economist, where he will contribute to the magazine’s digital transformation on a global scale.
Having served as Senior VP and General Manager of Disney+ EMEA since January 2020, Bradley-Jones played a pivotal role in launching and expanding Disney’s flagship streaming platform in the region. His tenure at Disney+ will conclude this summer, after which he will assume the role of President at The Economist.
Jan Koeppen, President of The Walt Disney Co. for EMEA, will continue to oversee Disney’s streaming operations in key markets worldwide. Bradley-Jones expressed gratitude for his time at Disney+, stating, “It’s been a privilege to lead the incredible launch and growth of Disney+ across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.”
Under Bradley-Jones’s leadership, Disney+ not only brought popular content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars to new subscribers but also initiated the commissioning of numerous local productions for the European audience, showcasing a commitment to regional diversity.
While Bradley-Jones’s departure is regrettable for Disney, Koeppen acknowledges his move to The Economist, emphasizing Bradley-Jones’s passion for the new role.
Disney has initiated a search for Bradley-Jones’s replacement to oversee streaming operations in the EMEA region, with the new executive reporting directly to Koeppen.
