Williams, known for his role as Lenny Ross, a former NYPD detective and colleague of police commissioner Frank Reagan, first appeared in Season 6’s “Back in the Day.” His character, Lenny, made a lasting impact, especially in last season’s “Irish Exits,” where he revealed to Frank that he was battling cancer linked to his heroic efforts as a first responder on September 11, 2001.

Tragically, Williams passed away a month after the episode aired, following a motorcycle accident at the age of 71.

The upcoming episode, titled “Fear No Evil,” will pay tribute to both Williams and his character, Lenny. Frank will grapple with the loss of his closest friend while endeavoring to assist Lenny’s daughter, Tess (played by returning guest star Simone Policano), who finds herself in legal trouble.

In addition to the emotional storyline involving Frank and Tess, the episode will see Jaime and Joe racing against time to reunite a trafficking victim with her sister. Meanwhile, tension arises between Danny and Erin when she enlists his criminal informant for an investigation without his consent.

Williams’ untimely death on June 12, resulting from a motorcycle accident caused by a car cutting him off, left a void in the entertainment industry. The driver, Ryan Koss, faced charges of “grossly negligent operation with death resulting,” but later opted for a guilty plea to the lesser charge of negligent operation with death resulting. If Koss maintains good behavior for a year, the charge could be expunged from his record.
