Che Diaz’s journey has come to an end: Sara Ramírez is departing from the cast of Max’s And Just Like That… and will not be reprising the role for the upcoming Season 3, as reported by our sister site Variety.
While no official statement regarding Ramírez’s exit has been issued, sources indicate to Variety that the character of Che had reached a natural conclusion, particularly after their relationship with Miranda came to an end. (Max declined to provide comment when approached by TVLine.)
Ramírez co-starred in the first two seasons of Max’s Sex and the City continuation, portraying Che Diaz, a lively non-binary stand-up comedian who co-hosted a podcast on sex and relationships with Carrie. Che later became romantically entangled with Carrie’s friend Miranda, leading to a tumultuous affair that resulted in Miranda leaving her husband Steve for Che. In Season 2, Miranda accompanied Che to Los Angeles while they worked on filming a sitcom pilot. However, when the pilot failed to get picked up, Che spiraled into a depression, ultimately leading to the breakup of their relationship with Miranda.
In January, Ramírez hinted at their departure from Season 3 in an Instagram post, stating: “It’s remarkable how many individuals in Hollywood prioritize performance. Even more so than my previous character portrayal.”
Although Max renewed And Just Like That… for a third season in August, viewers will have to wait until 2025 to see what unfolds next for Carrie and her circle, as indicated by a promo released by Max in December.
