Liverpool’s talisman, Mohamed Salah, could be sidelined for nearly a month due to a muscle injury, warned his agent, Ramy Abbas Issa. Salah, representing Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations, was initially expected to miss two games but is now facing a more extended absence of 21 to 28 days.
Liverpool had initially announced Salah’s return to England for treatment with the hope of rejoining Egypt if they progressed in the tournament. However, Abbas Issa revealed on X that the injury is more severe than initially assessed, requiring an intensive rehabilitation period in the UK.
Salah, present in the stands for Egypt’s 2-2 draw against Cape Verde, will return to Liverpool on Wednesday. The club plans to initiate an intensive rehabilitation program with their medical team to expedite Salah’s recovery. Liverpool aims to provide him with the best chance to return for the latter stages of the Africa Cup of Nations, should Egypt advance.
Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s manager, commented on the situation after their 4-0 win against Bournemouth, stating that it makes sense for Salah to undergo rehab with Liverpool. While the exact duration of Salah’s absence remains uncertain, Klopp is optimistic about his return and emphasized the ongoing communication between Salah and the club’s doctor.
Liverpool, despite initially struggling without Salah, secured a 4-0 victory at Bournemouth, extending their lead at the top of the Premier League.
